100 Psalms (Big D) - Rest
Christian/Gospel, Blues, Country
Tennessee, United States

Overall Impression: Full of feeling and a tremendous amount of spirit, "Rest" is a brilliant blues-fueled, gospel-inspired slow rocker that combines accomplished performances with a clear devotion to the themes that run through it. Deryl Herbert gives a fantastic performance that is steeped in both purpose and a deep level of conviction and the wonderful addition of Melissa Mitchell's terrifically soulful vocal presence really helps inject "Rest" with a hearty dose of Gospel.

Strongest Point(s): Opening with a highly articulate lead guitar solo, "Rest" wastes no time establishing its irrefutable sense of feeling, the way each and every note is lovingly handled is a joy to listen to and really captures the essence of the blues genre perfectly. The vocal performances really are the heart and soul of the track and both Deryl and Melissa's contrasting yet well-paired vocal styles really compliment one another, helping to heighten the effectiveness of the lyrics tenfold and create a great amount of interplay between the two singers that is a joy to listen to. Call and response play an important role in "Rest" and the way in which vocal and specifically guitar lines bounce ideas off one another is excellent, creating a musical conversation as it were throughout that greatly enhances the song's melodic elements.

Target Audience Appeal: This is a great blues rocker, and lovers of the genre will certainly have a great time with it.

Artist target suggestions: Cody Carnes, Samuel Lane, Micah Bournes, Zach Williams, Allman Brothers Band, Free, Phil King, Glen Kaiser, Otis Taylor, Jonny Lang, Slow Blues Fuse, Joe Cocker
