Blind Phoenix - Do No Harm
Rock, Americana, Blues
North Carolina, United States

Overall Impression: Whilst the influence of the track is rooted in both sadness and a profoundly moving connection between a mother and her daughter, "Do No Harm" still manages to be a deliciously groovy slice of funk-based rock that treats its rather dark subject matter with an equally sharp-edged dose of black comedy. It was hard not to be moved when reading about the way in which the idea for "Do No Harm" came to fruition, but that was soon replaced by a deep respect for the way Rebekkah handled the adversity she faced, through the power of creativity. Power duo Rebekkah Hilgraves and Chris Daniels, of Blind Phoenix respectively, have whipped up a fantastically rip-rollicking good time that blends excellent performances, inspired writing, and a brilliant sense of style.

Strongest Point(s): The lyrics are certainly the heart and soul of the track and the dark subject matter contrasts brilliantly with the chosen funk and blues-rock musical context. Not only does the fusion of blues, funk, and rock help to lighten the mood but chosen styles help to further add a certain level of quirkiness to the overall personality of the song that takes off the more serious edge that underpins the track's influence. The performances are exceptional and are led by Rebekkah's highly captivating vocal delivery that boasts superb dynamic and tonal control, helping to perfectly embody the free-spirited nature of the rock and blues genres perfectly.

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of funk and blues-based rock will have a raucously good time with "Do No Harm"

Artist target suggestions: Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder, Tower of Power, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Lettuce, James Brown & The Famous Flames, Tom Browne, Jamiroquai, Groove Collective
