Patrick Adams (Children's Music) - Friends
Pop, Children's
Nevada, United States

Overall Impression: Setting a vibrantly positive groove through playfully funky electro-pop tones, Rhythm's Fantastic Friends come to full melodic life in Patrick Adam's original song, "Friends" - introducing young listeners to a broad range of vitally important and often personally relevant occupations with enthusiasm and levity!

Strongest Point(s): This is such a fun song! Quintessential to modern children's music and bringing with it an endearing sense of play, a sprightly ukulele establishes the initial tone of "Friends" with gusto before being joined by an unexpectedly FUNKY guitar riff! Soon enough, a richly rolling bass line fills out the Funk feel as the vocalist begins to introduce an impressive list of professional figures - always sure to indicate them as a friend before giving a summary of what their work might entail. This is a brilliant concept, and remarkably well executed! The vocalist on "Friends" delivers each line with perfect energy and enthusiasm - an aspect of Children's media that's almost more important than the language being used. Distinguishing the call and response elements of her performance through subtle reverb on each friend's follow-up line communicates an attention to detail and an audience awareness that simply work! Subtle variations on the delivery do wonders for the engagement and entertainment factors as well - with the melodic response to pilots at 1:46 and the stellar melodic run at 1:52 giving repeat listeners something thrilling to look for in the thick of the ride. All of this tied off with a hook that hits just right, "Friends" is simply great!

Target Audience Appeal: Patrick Adams' original literature is geared towards Children, for sure - but "Friends" is such a well-considered and expertly assembled song that it's sure to dance its way into the heads and hearts of parents from nearly any musical background! - Jon W.
