Sylvan EDUK - Journey to the Gas Giant
Dance/Electronica, Chill, Ambient
Sidmouth, United Kingdom
Overall Impression: Taken from Sylvan EDUK's upcoming new album "Hypothetical Infinity" due out early next year, "Journey To The Gas Giant" is a strikingly ambitious and resoundingly atmospheric piece of electronica that fits the albums greater universe themes perfectly. "Journey To The Gas Giant" propels listeners on a cosmic-filled musical journey that feels as if it transcends space and time, enveloping the listener with its poignant themes and wide-reaching scope. Sylvan EDUK has crafted a richly textured and enthralling soundscape to get lost in, one that is continually evolving over time, morphing into newer iterations of itself as it matures. I think it's safe to say that the themes and inspiration that form "Journey To The Gas Giant" are of both a contemplative and reflective nature, concentrating down to that single most profound question, "What is it really all about?"
Strongest Point(s): Being able to create the genuine feeling of atmosphere and intrigue is no easy feat, but this is something that comes naturally to Sylvan EDUK, so much so that it effortlessly underlays all his writing. From the unsettling glitch-ridden opening that conjures up the feeling of unease to the soft and ethereal nature of the pads that follow, there is always this constant feeling of atmosphere that underpins the track's themes, and it makes for a thoroughly engaging listening experience. Space and the greater theme of the universe as a whole is always a fascinating subject to base your music on, and the decision to combine music with other forms of sound design is an inspired one, the interjections of radio clippings from what I assume to be something along the lines of radio communication between astronauts and ground control really adds some interesting layers to the music that help create a wholly authentic listening experience. Richly textured, very well produced, and brimming with creativity, "Journey To The Gas Giant" is a marvelous example of musical exploration and expression.
Target Audience Appeal: Lovers of experimental electronica will certainly appreciate what "Journey To The Gas Giant" has to offer.
Artist target suggestions: Vangelis, Jean-Michel Jarre, Kraftwerk, Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Isao Tomita, Edgar Froese, Peter Beauman, Ashra, Roedelius, Global Communication, Deadmau5, Daft Punk
