The Guitar & Whiskey Club - Does Your Dog Bite Rock, Hard Rock, Southern Rocks California, United States Overall Impression: Chock full of meaty riffs, chest-pounding rhythms, and gloriously animated performances, "Does Your Dog Bite?" is a fantastically rip-roaring slice of hard rock badassery that has both the necessary attitude and tongue-in-cheek sense of humor to really nail the unapologetic nature of the genre down to a tee. The Guitar & Whiskey Club display great energy and prove that rock'n'roll is most certainly not dead, this is one of those crowd-rousing rock anthems that is sure to get an audience hyped, it has the energy, the personality, and songwriting to prove it. Strongest Point(s): Any bombastic hard rocker needs an equally spirited lead vocal performance to match the songwriting intensity, and it's safe to say "Does Your Dog Bite" certainly has this. The vocal performance captures the raw energy of th...

Tommy Roxx - Prodigal Son Rock, Blues, Southern Rock Clearwater, United States Overall Impression: Bringing a time-honored Rock sound to full force, Tommy Roxx's original song, "Prodigal Son" applies the biblical parable to modern life with emotionally resonant impact - driving home the message of repentance and reconciliation with soaring organ and rich vocal harmonies behind familiar, wide-open Rock inflections! Strongest Point(s): The overall sound and style at work in "Prodigal Son" stand boldly in their own right while expertly tapping into a nostalgic love for those classic Rock tones that have defined the genre for decades - giving the tune a double-edged sonic appeal! Barry Darnell and The Mobile Slim Band - Encinitas Blues, Southern Rock, Americana Georgia, United States Overall Impression: With its laid-back vibes, strong writing, and accomplished performances, "Encinitas" is a splendid love letter to classic country and Barry Darnell and The Mobile Slim Band have done a wonderful job of capturing the spirit of the genre with both great gusto and tremendous spirit. Combining a striking sense of melody and a fantastic amount of instrumental interplay throughout, this is a tune to sit back and relax to whilst pouring yourself an obscenely large bourbon. Marvelous! Strongest Point(s): The interplay between the vocals and other parts of the instrumentation is excellent and really adds a great sense of dynamism to the track's various melodic flourishes. The call and response that the vocals, fiddle, and lap steel engage in give the track a certain feeling of spontaneity that helps add further weight to the lines...

Barry Darnell and The Mobile Slim Band - Not a Drop of Rain Blues, Southern Rock, Americana Georgia, United States Overall Impression: Barry Darnell and the Mobile Slim Band draw from deep wells of Blues, Jazz, and Soul to deliver an experience both timelessly familiar and completely original - combining smoky cabaret instrumentals with emotionally devastated vocal inflections to drive home the beautiful and bleak lyrical imagery of "Not a Drop of Rain" with skillful style! Strongest Point(s): Very much of the arrangement at work in "Not a Drop of Rain" simply works - from the song's format and flow to the individual instrumental performances and the lyrical and emotional energies they're supporting. Beginning the track with just upright bass, piano and brush percussion immediately takes listeners into an intimate space and grounds their expectations for the song in the realm of Jazz. The vocals enter with a decidedly more Blues-o...

Philip Shin - Bossanova for guitar Rock, Hard Rock, Southern Rock California, United States Overall Impression: Crushing riffs and outstanding performances combine in what I can best describe as a thunderously towering hard rock anthem of epic proportions. "Rebel Fire" is a blistering monster of a track that's filled to the brim with catchy hooks, a great deal of melodic detail, and plenty of character. The Guitar & Whiskey Club serves up a meaty slice of classic hard rock that is an excellent example of what the genre has to offer and being a big fan of the hard rock & metal styles myself, it's always great to come across bands that continue to carry the torch forward in a truly bombastic fashion. Strongest Point(s): Performed with the utmost conviction and containing a great amount of groove, as a listener you can definitely tell these are musicians who live and breathe the hard rock and metal genres and there's a clear sense o...

Opening with a killer guitar solo and a heavy dose of energy, Sleazy kicks down your front door without hesitation. The tune grabs onto the classic L.A. hard rock sound and refuses to let go. The guitar solo, played by Jeffrey Donovan, tears though atmosphere with blazing hot style and reminds listeners of the instrument's awesome power. Sung by Mark Prudeaux, the lyrics are a glorification of bad decisions and living life to the fullest. Supported by Donovan's guitar stylings and Adam Ponce's adept drum work, Prudeaux commands the stage with total control and commitment to the lyrics.
