Overall Impression: The Biggs Experience deliver hauntingly beautiful smooth jazz with a Latin flair, on their release of "Silk Serenade". This original composition for piano, bass, drums, and nylon guitar features a sultry and seductive motif that's propelled by mesmerizing samba rhythms. Provocative themes are skillfully passed between keys and guitar, expanding on exotic melodies and extended harmonic variations while the upright bass and drums hold down a driving groove with a solid backbeat. Jazz aficionados will appreciate the exquisite character, creative improvisations and world-class charm of "Silk Serenade" from The Biggs Experience.
Strongest Point(s): Solid production, decent mix. Good clarity on the leads in particular. Great chord progression, allows for a dramatic and compelling melodic theme. Drums and bass are locked in tight on a terrific samba groove that drives the entire track. Fantastic improv from both the piano and guitar, terrific interplay and a great job of passing the leads back and forth while not holding it for too long. This should help with keeping listeners engaged. Great job of sticking close to the melody while still having fun with it, tremendous variations throughout that build and flourish over time. This is a strong track and a tremendous composition that should appeal to classic and contemporary jazz enthusiasts of all ages, thanks to a timeless Latin-influenced style and flawless execution. Stellar work!
