Happy Curmudgeons - All On You
Rock, Contemporary Folk, Blues
Michigan, United States
Overall Impression: A bright, airy feel-good song, “All On You” is the last release from the band Happy Curmudgeons. The song is an uplifting and happy tune whose message is that the choices we make are all ours. It is a song about having responsibility for ourselves and our decisions and emotions, implying that love is all in your mind, if we don’t love ourselves first, we can’t love another. You have to believe in love, put it out there, and share it with others.
Strongest Point(s): The vocals and melody combine to form a cohesive composition. The song is passionately sung and the combination of Jeff Warner’s vocals to his counterpart Amy Dixon-Lavery adds variety and texture to the song. Warner’s voice has a raspy, soulful, bluesy quality to it, whereas Dixon’s vocals have a rich more controlled quality and element to them. A compliment to their vocals is the song’s melody. The tune is comprised of various elements that blend and intertwine the sounds of folk, and Americana with a calypso vibe, that gives the song an uplifting, light, and airy feel. The beautiful flowing guitar chords sound like happiness on a sunny day, and Warner’s raspiness and country twang add to the song’s folk and Americana appeal and is reminiscent of The Beatle's “ Here Comes The Sun.”
Target Audience Appeal: Folk, Americana, country, and Folk-rock.
Artist target suggestions: Jimmy Buffett, Jack O' Pierce, Vertical Horizon, Pat McGee Band, Pat Metheny, Van Morrison, Pete Seeger, Stevie Ray Vaughn, The Marshall Tucker Band, Derek Trucks Band, Grand Funk Railroad, Joe Cocker, John Phillips, Spook Handy, Drive-By-Truckers, Shooter Jennings, Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, Loggins & Messina, Blues Traveler, Rusted Root, Peter Frampton, Roy Orbison, Deep Purple, Jeff Beck, and Yes.
