The Gumbys - Diamond in the Rough
Rock, 70's rock, Alt Rock
North Carolina, United States
Overall Impression: Opening strongly with a jammy guitar riff, Diamond In The Rough by The Gumbys wastes no time in transporting the listener to a positive place. This new Rock tune grooves with influences from Pop and Jam bands to make it wildly accessible and easy on the ears. Without giving too much away, the lyrics resonate with language suggesting they are written for someone in particular. They are caring, thoughtful, and instill hope in this person's future. The chorus sings the tune's title with a terrifically catchy melody. It has no problem living in the listener's head well after the song has finished. Overall, Diamond In The Rough is a great new Rock tune that is well written, well produced, and a diamond in its own right.
Strongest Point(s): Each musical element works nicely with each other. Like the pieces of a puzzle, everything fits together to reveal a colorful picture. The long vocal melodies are supported well by the busyness of the guitar riff, and the shorter melodies stick in the listener's ear easily. Each word is sung clearly with an approachable tone, and the production value is quite high. Very nicely done!
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Rock and Pop Rock are sure to enjoy Diamond In The Rough by The Gumbys.
Artist target suggestions: Dave Matthews Band, R.E.M., Foo Fighters, Weezer, Green Day, The Whimsical Glimpse Band, The Grateful Dead, Counting Crows, Blues Traveler, Sister Hazel, Steve Miller Band, Gina Di Tullio
