Andy Mehall - It's Whatchu Get
Alternative/Alt. Rock, Rock
Ohio, United States

Overall Impression: "It's Whatchu Get" is a wonderful bit of biting political commentary from Ohio-based recording artist Andy Mehall. Originally included on his 2019 full length release Andy Songs, this track features a spirited post-punk arrangement constructed around a crunchy pop guitar riff, supported by melodic walking bass and fierce drumming that provides the ideal setting for Mehall's energetic and highly-stylized vocals as he delivers a scathing critique of the recent American political landscape with his own brand of sardonic wit. Alternative rock and punk enthusiasts will absolutely love Andy Mehall's "It's Whatchu Get", thanks in part to a slick "in your face" production style as well as its anti-establishment directive.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, outstanding mix. Great tonal balance and use of stereo space. Brilliant variations in the arrangement. Nice intro with the snare/shaker. Fantastic riff, great guitar tone. Bass and drums sound terrific, really nice bass lines throughout. Vocals sit perfectly in the mix and are very well performed, super engaging style. Love the sax in the chorus, as well as the little bass and guitar fills. The brief instrumental sections do a great job providing variety and breaking up the lyrical content, which is totally on point without pulling any punches. This messaging will definitely resonate with most Americans. Overall, it's a tremendous bit of songwriting and an amazing production. Stellar job all around!
