Rogue Monkey - Nothin' To Lose
Rock
London, United Kingdom
Overall Impression: British band Rogue Monkey deliver a fantastic bit of adrenaline-fueled rock'n'roll, with their release of "Nothin' to Lose." Straight forward blues-based rock with plenty of swagger and attitude, this track features muscular riffs, powerful drumming and melodic bass lines that serve as the perfect backdrop for lead singer and songwriter Andrew Montlake's authentic stream-of-consciousness, somewhat nihilistic vocals. "Nothin' to Lose" is highlighted by an unforgettable hook and singalong chorus that is sure to be a crowd favorite. This is quite simply one of those songs that translates well to the stage, and is guaranteed to bring down the house. Fans of pure, uncut rock music will undoubtably find a lot to love about Rogue Monkey's "Nothin' to Lose", thanks to its unwavering sound that proves the genre is as vibrant and vital as ever.
Strongest Point(s): Great production, solid mix. Excellent opening riff, really sets the tone for the entire track, as well as serving as the backbone for the outstanding chorus. Incredible guitar tones across the board. Drums hit hard and cut through nicely. Tambourine and cowbell were nice touches. Wonderful bass tone and nice melodic motion to the lines. Vocals sound amazing, great rock "snarl" to the delivery. Lyrics are terrific, excellent flow and imagery, especially the repeated mantra of "I got nothin to lose." All in all, it's a fantastic rock song and a well done track, true to the spirit of the genre. Very nice job by everyone involved.
