David William Pearce - Learn to Love Again
Rock, Pop, Wave
Washington, United States

Overall Impression: Steeped in the smokey sounds of the seventies, David William Pearce's "Learn to Love Again" reads like a nostalgic love letter to the era when bands like CSN&Y ruled the airwaves. This track features hazy guitars, soulfulful Hammond organ, and a light Latin rock groove that provides a solid foundation for Pierce's passionate voice, as he delivers his message of universal love. Highlighted by an incredibly engaging chord progression that's filled with major and minor sevenths reinforced by gorgeous backing vocals, David William Pearce's "Learn to Love Again" should appeal to both soft rock and folk rock fans alike, particularly those who have an affinity for the thoughtfully constructed songs of the 1970s.

Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Great use of stereo width, especially with the back and forth panning on the guitar leads. Really nice groove here; drum mix sounds fantastic, and the auxiliary percussion adds a lot of Afro-Cuban flavor. Great variety in the guitar tones, giving each its own voice and distinct character. Organ sits well in the mix and serves as a nice pad. Love the harmonic progressions employed here, that's what really gives it that "seventies" sound. Vocals sound amazing, well staged and produced with the main sitting front and center thanks to its dryness, and the stacks and layers pushed to the rear with proper engineering and reverb. Wonderfully positive and inspiring lyrical content, like a much needed breath of fresh air. Overall, it's a terrific song and a stellar finished track that was my pleasure to review. Very nice job!
