L.A. Carpool - La Luna Negra (from 11/29)
Latin, Smooth Jazz
California, United States

Overall Impression: Rising stars of the Latin music scene L.A. Carpool transport listeners to a smoky Havana nightclub with the release of their latest single, "La Luna Negra." By applying pop aesthetics to traditional Cuban jazz, L.A. Carpool manage to forge a sound that's just as exquisite as it is accessible. Layers of authentic percussion create a contagious groove that's punctuated by lively brass on this bilingual track that features Spanish and English lyrics, both skillfully performed. Highlighted by a fiery piano solo, "La Luna Negra" will delight jazz aficionados with its overall high level of musicianship and proficiency, and thrill Latin pop audiences with its genuine, vivacious sound. Be sure to check out "La Luna Negra" in addition to L.A. Carpool's other exceptional work, available on all major platforms.

Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Great tonal balance, everything sits fairly well in the mix. Amazing energy, on all fronts. Vocals sound fantastic, both the lead and the background vox. Wonderful passion and spirit on the lead vocal performance. Stellar rhythm section, that groove is breathtaking. Nice arrangement. The piano solo is well placed and I love that little hang, on the final chord of the song. The church bell on "the bell began to toll" was a nice touch of sound design, as were the wind chimes on "the music casts its spell." Great cohesive, full ensemble sound. Simply a magnificent job all around, by everyone involved.

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Latin, Latin Pop, Latin Jazz, Afro-Cuban Jazz, Cuban

Artist target suggestions: Buena Vista Social Club, Afro-Cuban Allstars, Arturo Sandoval, Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Cafe Havana, Los Van Van, Orquestra Sublime, Shakira, Debi Nova, Gloria Estefan
