Gary Hall - Remember
Rock, Folk, Americana
Colorado, United States

Overall Impression: Veteran singer/songwriter Gary Hall examines the results and consequences of war in compelling fashion, with his song "Remember." Originally composed as a missive to his young daughter in the wake of 9/11, this tune displays Hall's talent for exquisite prose, as he eloquently and reverentially encourages the listener to remain optimistically vigilant in the face of conflict and hostility. Sublime pedal steel and subtle electric bass join a fingerpicked drop D acoustic guitar on this tune, providing ample support for Hall's emphatic and passionate tenor vocals. Folk aficionados will find a lot to like about Gary Hall's "Remember", thanks to its superb lyrical content and remarkable musicianship.

Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production and an excellent mix. Great instrumentation, the trio of instruments blend perfectly and work nicely with the vocal. The pedal steel is especially effective here, and the bass gives the song a nice kinetic energy. Gorgeous solo section. Truly inspired poetic lyrics that could stand on their own merit, and absolutely touching messaging. Your compassion really comes through there. Great vocal performance, dynamic and passionate. Very nice job overall, just a brilliant track in all facets.
