Moonlight Rhythm Society - Metropolis
Pop, Jazz
Krugersdorp, South Africa

Overall Impression: Terrifically uplifting and sprinkled with a hearty dose of positivity, "Metropolis" is a fun-filled, wonderfully written, and solidly performed pop-rocker that has been both deftly arranged and well produced. Mixing elements of rock, pop, folk, and even jazz for good measure, Moonlight Rhythm Society have done a brilliant job of creating an easily accessible tune that a broad range of music lovers can enjoy, and I think it's safe to say that this would undoubtedly be a great track to see performed live, it has that certain energy and charm to it which makes for a brilliant and thoroughly engaging listening experience.

Strongest Point(s): Both the vocals and lyrics are particularly strong elements of the track and I particularly like the understated folk-laden vocal style that the singer has adopted, it fits perfectly and contrasts brilliantly with the equally strong backing vocals that accompany them. The arrangement is excellent, the way in which sections seamlessly transition from one another has been handled with a great amount of care, and when combined with the way instruments and ideas have been layered it makes for an organically free-flowing track that feels well crafted and very concise from beginning to end. It's also worth noting that the interplay between instruments significantly heightens the overall effectiveness of the arrangement and contributes greatly to the deft handling of the track's many diverse melodic ideas. Speaking of instruments, the diverse instrumentation offers a marvelous blend of varied tonal personalities, from the jazz-infused nature of the brass to the rock-inspired lead guitar interludes, there is an abundance of timbral diversity on display that only heightens the songs already well-realized soundscape. Great work!

Target Audience Appeal: This is definitely a tune for fans of pop-rock, but having said that, there is an excellent mix of styles here and it helps give "Metropolis" a broad appeal.

Artist target suggestions: Chicago, Paul Simon, Toto, Van Morrison, REO Speedwagon, Foreigner, Christopher Cross, America, The Doobie Brothers, Boz Scaggs, Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, Ambrosia, Little River Band
