Anthony “Sax” Johnson gives a truly captivating performance that effortlessly displays both his undeniable virtuosity and deft musicality, all the while treating us to a brilliant showcase of his instrumental writing prowess. Treating each and every note with the utmost equal importance, Anthony has a definite stylistic flair that permeates his playing that is both wonderfully expressive and delicately fluid.
Strongest Point(s): The musicianship on display is quite simply breathtaking, there is an accomplished sense of both finesse and technical dexterity in everyone's playing that is thoroughly absorbing, and because of the track's jam-like quality, if you happen to be a musician listening to "Never Alone", you instantly want to pick up the nearest instrument and jam along, and any track that can rouse this type of feeling is certainly doing something very right indeed. Whether it'd be Anthony's outstanding sax proficiency, the exquisite lead guitar flourishes that are interspersed throughout, or the fantastic rhythm section that accompanies, there is a great feeling of musical camaraderie from beginning to end that does an exceptional job of keeping you continually invested in the music. From the beautifully arranged opening chord progression that both opens and closes the track, there is a staggering amount of harmonic and melodic maturity throughout, making "Never Alone" a thoroughly enjoyable listening experience.
