Signing Einstein - Edward Teach
Rock, Adult Contemporary
Illinois, United States
Overall Impression: With its fascinating lyrical subject matter, breathtaking performances, and deep melodic maturity, "Edward Teach" is nothing short of outstanding. It's always an absolute pleasure coming across a group such as Signing Einstein that continues to push the prog-rock genre forward with such poise and nuance. With its grand sense of vision and profoundly sophisticated execution, "Edward Teach" dazzles with an abundance of fascinating ideas and a striking sense of thematic importance, the result is a multi-layered piece of music that boasts great detail and blistering musicality.
Strongest Point(s): Being an avid fan of the prog-rock genre, it's always exciting to find new and fresh-sounding musical minds that acutely understand the fundamentals of the genre whilst managing to effortlessly weave in their own unique musical identity, and Signing Einstein strikes this balance extremely well. I think it's safe to say that the lyrical subject matter at the heart of the track is certainly its main focal point and makes for a tremendously compelling listening experience. Depicting the historically accurate events leading up to Blackbeard’s death, there is a brilliant tale being told here and the lead vocals do a wonderful job of expressing these captivating lyrics with both purpose and a delicate sense of understatement which compliments the track brilliantly. Along with the accomplished vocals, the performances across the board are marvelous, and each and every performer compliments one another exceptionally well. Being a prog track, it's imperative that the arrangement is filled with a great amount of detail and variation whilst being able to flow seamlessly, and at a little over five minutes in length, tracks of this nature can often fail to provide enough exciting ideas to warrant the longer than usual duration compared to a standard rock track, however, Signing Einstein masterfully handle this and know exactly how to create an engaging arrangement that keeps you gripped from start to finish.
Target Audience Appeal: This is a fantastic example of what the progressive rock genre has to offer and fans of the genre will find themselves connecting with "Edward Teach" on a deep level.
Artist target suggestions: Genesis, Kings X, King Crimson, Tool, Camel, Pink Floyd, Rush, The Alan Parsons Project, Mike Oldfield, Styx, Yes, Queensryche
