Hip Culture - Precious Love
Pop, Dance
Stouffville, Canada
Overall Impression: There is something undeniably "Classic" sounding about "Precious Love" that certainly helps differentiate it from the vast modern pop output of the present and with its superb blend of styles and exquisite performances, I was captivated from beginning to ending, which is no easy feat. HIP CULTURE has cooked up an extremely mature piece of songwriting that combines deep melodic sophistication with an acute eye for detail, this results in a positively charming and deftly-produced track that is thoroughly engaging and tremendously uplifting.
Strongest Point(s): The instrumentation is fantastic, there is an abundance of tonal and timbral variety on display that helps to create both a rich and deeply textured soundscape, one that's filled with a great amount of detail and refinement, from the unique characteristics of the fretless bass to the highly expressive sound of the accordion, the diversity in sounds is marvelous. The instrumentation also contributes significantly to the tracks fusing of styles, the flamenco guitar, and accordion lean into the songs Latin Esque influences, the vocals encapsulate a folk-pop aesthetic, and the fretless bass injects the track with hints of jazz and prog, it makes for a fascinating arrangement that flows exceptionally well. It goes without saying that behind the inspired instrument choices, the performances that bring them to life are superb, every musician is really on top of their game and each one delicately instills their own musical identities into the song with great flair and panache.
Target Audience Appeal: Music lovers who like their pop infused with a hearty dose of sophistication will find a lot to love about this brilliantly written track.
Artist target suggestions: Paula Cole, Lisa Loeb, Gipsy Kings, Sarah McLachlan, Carly Simon, The Cranberries, Indigo Girls, Tracy Chapman, No Doubt, James Taylor, Carole King
