Overall Impression: Led by a strikingly expressive and accomplished lead vocal performance by Joshua Canonge and backed by a superb crisp modern pop production that can confidently stand amongst the popular artists of today, "Doubts" is an incredibly melodic and eloquent offering that combines a brilliant arrangement with a keen eye for detail, the result is a remarkably engaging track that is highly-listenable and marvelously replayable.
Strongest Point(s): It goes without saying that Joshua's vocal performance is nothing short of outstanding. Showcasing a superb sense of both musicality and most importantly, personality, this is clearly a very talented artist that will certainly have a wide-reaching appeal to a broad range of music lovers. Not only is there a mature sense of tonal and dynamic control on display, but there is a certain relatability to Joshua's voice that makes for an even more engaging performance that you can't help but feel invested in. The vocals are backed by a diverse and interesting arrangement that is interspersed with an abundance of interesting harmonic and melodic ideas that supplement Joshua's vocals extremely well. The variety of sounds is also excellent, whether it'd be reverse sweeps, side-chained synths, or texturally expansive pads, there's plenty of diversity that makes for a continually intriguing listening experience. Brilliant performances and strong songwriting can often be let down by a sub-par production that doesn't do enough to effectively highlight a song's intricacies, but I'm happy to say that this is certainly not the case with "Doubts". Every element of the track boasts a great amount of crystal clear detail, resulting in a production that feels both modern and polished whilst still managing to retain a great amount of warmth and character.
