Aaron Marlowe - Give Me A Sign
Rock, Singer Songwriter
Tennessee, United States
Overall Impression: There's an infectiously catchy punk-pop vibe to "Give Me A Sign" that I really dig, it pairs its well-conceived lyrics with an expressive vocal performance that does a great job of grabbing the listener's attention. It's evident that Aaron Marlowe has a very clear artistic vision of where he wants his music to take you, and there are some extremely interesting and unexpected twists and turns throughout that will surely keep a listener on their toes.
Strongest Point(s): I really must tip my hat off to the sheer inventiveness that "Give Me A Sign" possesses, from its pop-punk like vocal delivery to its wildly contrasting, and particularly darker, melodic elements that wouldn't feel out of place on a brooding metal album, there is a great deal of adventure and vision injected into this track, and it gives it a wholly unique sound of its own. From 2:24 the track goes through a number of stark modulations that brilliantly throw the listener off-guard and serve as a great reminder that Aaron isn't afraid to take bold and ambitious risks in his musical storytelling, you could say it's the unexpected elements in this track that give it an almost prog, or even avant-garde like quality, and this play on genre conventions makes for a very unique listening experience. Aaron has done a very fine job of weaving different styles together, and it's always great to hear artists trying to really change up the standard formula we've all been rather accustomed to.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of the acoustic side of rock and punk will find a lot to love with "Give Me A Sign"
