Guilherme Arantes - A Desordem dos Templarios
Latin, Pop, World
Sao Paulo, Brazil
Overall Impression: Guilherme Arantes' A Desordem dos Templarios is poetry in motion backed by an ethereal dream like echoing melodic piano opening. This song is full of rich layering in instruments that build up, breathing new life into Brazilian Northeaster Baião music by fluidly and effortlessly marrying it with a stellar alternative rock electric guitar embraced by Brazilian beats -- there's even a distance but impossible to deny element of theatrical glam rock, yet this is a song rooted in the future of sound. A Desordem dos Templarios is an instant classic that captures the imagination upon listening.
Strongest Point(s): Such a beautiful song. I don't see the English version of the lyrics, however I'm native Portuguese as an American born Brazilian, thus, able to read and understand. Letras lindas! The arrangement, instruments and melody are fascinating in its hybrid of classic and alternative rock, Baião & Forró (Northeaster), pop and world music - giving it a futuristic flavor. I especially loved the refrain's key change - with the back and forth of flat and sharp piano keys that give this song it's mystique. There's a musical theater quality to this song, as if it could belong to a larger body of work with a full narrative. Posso traduzir tudo se você desejar. Mas realmente essa canção é extremamente emocionante com uma grandeza em melodia, arrango e letra. É um som que vai agradar muito o publico internacional que ama World Music. Foi um prazer poder fazer a sua avaliação.
Target Audience Appeal: This song will appeal to global audiences who love Brazilian music, Jazz, World Music, Brazilian Pop, Brazilian Northeastern (Baião & Forró), new age, glam rock, alternative rock, musical theater rock, experimental and across genres. Again, the melody and arrangement is so beautiful that I don't believe it will matter if one does not understand the lyrics, however I highly suggest including a translation because it's truly worth it.
Artist target suggestions: Lô Borges, Peter Gabriel, David Byrne, Milton Nascimento, Bebel Gilberto, Celso Fonseca, Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben Jor, Gonzaguinha, Ney Matogrosso, Gensis, Marina Lima, Legião Urbana, Renato Russo, Pepeu Gomes, Marisa Monte, Eric Clapton, Laurent Voulzy
