Overall Impression: Having reviewed a previous track by Dr. SasT, I had a pretty solid idea of the listening experience that I was in for when heading into "Thank You God", brilliant performances, a great arrangement, and a wonderfully uplifting nature is what I've come to expect from this artist, and it's safe to say that this track delivered on all those elements marvelously. "Thank You God" is another great release by Dr. SasT, fusing elements of soul and gospel together to create a passion-filled track that warms the soul and fills the listener with both a feeling of peace and calmness and with the uncertain times we find ourselves in, it's very much needed. Great work!
Strongest Point(s): As to be expected with a Dr. SasT release, the performances are superb, the lead vocals glide effortlessly against the richly textured musical backdrop, showcasing great dynamic control and a terrific sense of grace and refinement, they express the vocals with the utmost conviction and purpose and handle them beautifully, and speaking of the lyrics, they have an incredibly uplifting quality to them that has an undeniable soothing effect on the listener. This is a tightly performed piece, from the delicate piano outlining the harmony to the soft strumming of the acoustic guitar, every element has been delicately handled, resulting in a track that flows brilliantly and feels both cohesive and thematically strong. There are some interesting and unexpected twists and turns that occur in places that really help inject extra flourishes of style into the song, the jazzy descending chord sequence heard at 1:26 for instance is brilliant and adds interesting color to the overall harmonic movement of the track.
Target Audience Appeal: This is certainly aimed at fans of Christian-based music genres, such as gospel, and I believe audiences will find undoubtedly find themselves connecting with "Thank You God" on a deep and personal level.
