Overall Impression: Another extremely strong masterclass in songwriting by Wild Wisteria, with its vividly expressive lyrics and melodically diverse musical ideas, "Crystal Tangerine" is expertly woven together with both precision and articulation. A thoroughly enjoyable listening experience that one can sit back and easily get lost in.
Strongest Point(s): The lyrical content, as to be expected, is truly inspired, showing great depth and delicacy, and conveyed with great feeling and sentiment. The instrumentation is once again rich and varied, providing ample interest for the listener throughout. There is always something new occurring, a little synth flurry here, a quirky guitar lick there, the interplay between the different instruments is exceptional and conveys great synergy whilst managing to retain their own individualistic tones and timbres. The harmonic movement that forms the basis of the song is particularly strong, often going to places not expected, expertly edging into the song's prog sensibilities with confidence, and again, this is down to mature and seasoned songwriting that comes with experience. Another high point, which is a staple of Wild Wisteria, is the fantastic vocal performances across the board, both lead and backing vocals expertly blend together to really bolden the lyrics and provide delicate nuance.
Target Audience Appeal: This is a great mix of Rock, Prog, and Folk, and there is something to be found here for all fans of these genres.
