Planet of Rhythm - Ripped Jeans and Blonde Hair
Rock, Blues
California, United States
Overall Impression: Having grown up with classic blues-based rock, I was instantly transported back to the time when I used to spend hours jamming to similar tracks such as this in my bedroom as a teenager, and most importantly how fun it was to do so, Planet of Rhythm serves up a classic slice of Southern tinted rock'n'roll that, as the artist name would suggest, delivers plenty of driving rhythm, dirty guitars, fun playful lyrics, and a "straight to the point" attitude that unapologetically knows exactly what it wants to be, and with a title like "Ripped Jeans and Blonde Hair", you know exactly what your getting.
Strongest Point(s): This is an entertaining and refreshingly boisterous track that harkens back to the day of classic blues-rock, it has great energy, fun lyrics, and a slightly dirty feel to it which is exactly what you would expect in this style. This very much feels like a song designed to be played and seen live with a beer in hand. The mix is great, all parts are clearly distinguishable from one another (Apart from the backing vocals but we'll get into that) and that opening gritty bass tone is infectious, summing up the track perfectly. The guitars have plenty of grit and are layered very well and the vocal performance is solid.
Target Audience Appeal: This, without a doubt, will certainly appeal to the classic blues rockers out there. There are a few artists that are included in the artist target section that doesn't really fit with this style that well, Paramore is very much suited to the pop-punk scene, as is Green Day, The Killers are very much part of the indie crowd, and Linkin Park sits in the Nu-Metal genre, this is undeniably blues-rock focused and it's those listeners that will appreciate this type of track the most
Artist target suggestions: Kate Nash, Kiesza, Florence + The Machine, Mackenzie Nicole, Little Boots, Desiree, Dragonette, Bebe Rexha, Pink, La Roux, Kylie Minogue, Fergie, Robbie Williams, La Bouche, Crystal Waters, Tove Lo, Three Doors Down, Snow Patrol
