Rodrigo Ferreira - Hologramas Distorcidos
Rock, Alternative, World
Belo Horizonte, Brazil

Overall Impression: Hologramas Distorcidos breaks in with a stout guitar and drum intro, joined by bold, foreboding strings which lend the track an air of mystery, and help make way for the entrance of Rodrigo Ferreira's spacious, suave vocals that immediately pull listeners into a frank discussion of reality, self assurance, and desire. Mesmerizing and exploratory, the song soon bursts wide open in the form of expansive instrumental breaks, full of grandiose melody, progressive percussion, and big funky guitar voicings that shower Hologramas Distorcidos in creative color for an unforgettable listen.

Strongest Point(s): Rodrigo Ferreira has filled this song with amazing instrumental choices! The use of violin (real or simulated) gives the whole piece a Romantic, adventurous feel that only increases with the large, open chords on guitar. The choice of the wah pedal mid-song beginning around 1.03 is enough to knock listeners off their feet, with an incredible groovy sound that is entirely unexpected, but feels so right, locking Hologramas Distorcidos in as a killer song. Ferreira's voice is very appealing, the effects on it making it just a tad aloof in a surreal sort of way, and his lyrics are well developed, insightful, and mature. Just when audiences think they've heard everything, the introduction of keys and xylophone will prove them wrong with another jaw dropping artistic decision that will have listeners smiling to the end.

Target Audience Appeal: Hologramas Distorcidos will tap fans of Rock all across the board, with a special place in the heart of Alternative and Prog rockers. The song is perfect for live performances indoors and out, and with such a big successful sound, I would encourage the band to aim for mid-sized venues and festivals, although a small club packed with a lively audience is never a bad thing!

Artist target suggestions: Frank Zappa, Soft Machine, Jeff Beck, Robin Trower, Yes, Os Mutantes, Gong, Secos & Molhados, Steve Howe
