Collo - The Warning
Rock, Alt Rock, Indie Rock
Melbourne, Australia
Overall Impression: Launching into the fray with an adrenaline-inducing guitar lead, Collo's original song, The Warning, quickly slides into a bold and bright Hard Rock sound - with soaring, melodic vocals, frantic and fiery organ tones, and a rhythmic drive that just won't surrender. At The Warning's climactic breaking point, everything drops away to reveal that intense guitar lead working away with minimal support before all hell breaks loose - delivering a frenzied few bars of instrumental throw-down that are as exhilarating as they are entertaining. Whether or not you've heard of Collo, you would do well to Listen to The Warning.
Strongest Point(s): Incredible talents here! The guitar work is obviously stellar, and the various moments of focus on that fact are very gratifying. Excellent organ work, very impressive and a unique tone color for the genre. Shout out to the drums and bass as well, holding down the rhythm dutifully throughout. Big fan of the dance-like octaves in the bass during the bridge solo. Interesting choice to completely change feels for the last moments of the song, but in the context it works very well! Last but certainly not least, killer lead vocals! The energy and presence in the vocal track is staggering, especially on those high and extended notes. Seriously great work!
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of rhythmically intense, melodically rich, and massively energetic Hard Rock in all its endless variants will find more than enough to love in Collo's sound, and the sheer magnitude of talent on display in The Warning is enough to grab the attentions of anyone with an appreciation for musical skill and virtuosity. Specifically, fans of Hard Rock, Metal, Power Metal, Pop Metal, Alt. Rock, or generally mind-blowing guitar work will love The Warning. Thanks for sending this - it's been a blast listening in!
Artist target suggestions: Racer X, Coheed and Cambria, Dance Gavin Dance, Protest the Hero, Circa Survive, Alkaline Trio, Minus The Bear, Brand New, Iron Maiden, Dream Theater, Atreyu
