Awaken the Machine - Just a Little
Rock, Post Rock, Indie

Overall Impression: Awaken the Machine's depth of sound is astonishing - using a relatively simple tone pallet to create expansive caverns of immersive melancholy. The fullness of this effect is evident in their song Just a Little, the fourth track from their 2019 release Réveiller la machine and a wrecking ball of emotional gravity. Featuring personally reflective lyrics and passionate vocals, Just a Little reveals a taste of the originality and authenticity that make up Awaken the Machine.

Strongest Point(s): Expert sound design! The amount of atmospheric development from start to finish is impressive - and the chosen sounds are perfect for the job. Love the bass guitar tone on those slides, and the part is well executed. Great vocal energy - big fan of the sensation of relaxed instrumentals with tension in the voice part. Excellent sense of tension and release as well as dynamic expression. Huge chorus! This is awesome work

Target Audience Appeal: Awaken the Machine's approach to songwriting checks a lot of boxes - the lyrics are emotionally weighted and thoughtfully arranged, the instrumentals are perfectly immersive, and the structure and flow of the finished product provides quite a lot to enjoy and unpack. Just a Little contains every bit of this attention to detail and delivers a deeply cathartic musical experience with skill - sure to connect with anyone who gives it their time!

Artist target suggestions: The Books, Avey Tare, Tool, Keane, Glass Animals, Animal Collective, Panda Bear, Dan Deacon, Atlas Sound, The Dirty Projectors, Battles, Radiohead
