The 3 Stages Of A Successful Music Launch

"Many musicians don’t have much clarity on what a music launch actually is.
Nowadays, a simple tweet or video posted online allow you to reach fans on the other side of the world.

This is an unprecedented opportunity for indie musicians, no doubt about it. However, at the same time, technology, when misused, can backfire too –  especially when it comes to promoting your music. If you think that tweeting as many random people as possible to let them know about your new EP is an effective marketing strategy…think again."

Check out this great article posted by our fiends at DIY Musician with tips on how to successfully launch your music for the best results possible.

Pressing Vinyl: Why It’s a Good Call and Some Things to Consider

"As an indie artist, you know where a lot of your sales come from: merchandise. While it continues to be hard for artists to gain exposure and earn money, an indie artist still has the ability to sell out concerts and move T-shirts, buttons, and albums to hungry fans.
What you may not know, however, is that while everyone continues to listen to music on Spotify, iTunes, and Tidal, vinyl records have been making a comeback for ten years."
Learn why vinyl can be the perfect medium to boost sales in this great and informative article posted by our good friends at Tunecore.

Center Stage - CBDB

We're pleased to introduce the latest Radio Airplay Center Stage band, CBDB - A progressive rock/jam band formed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, whose stock is rising fast. Fresh off the release of their third album, entitled "The FAME EP", they are seeing a pattern of snowballing momentum with large, energetic crowds hungry for their unique brand of progressive jam-rock, dubbed Joyfunk.

CBDB blends soulful vocals and virtuosic instrumentation with smart, tasteful songwriting resulting in a sound that can be enjoyed by the casual listener and audiophile alike.

On stage, they parade tight, ambitious compositions that seamlessly gives way to loose, adventurous improvisation and have quickly become a must-see act!

Describe your sound in one ramble-on sentenceA mix of the past present and future with mostly whole grains, maybe some marshmallows.

What’s the story behind your band name?It doesn't stand for anything, but we do enjoy the various acronyms our fans create...

Do you write/compose your own songs? Briefly describe your songwriting processWe usually write as a band in rehearsal. Often times one member will bring an idea or riff to the table and we bang them out in rehearsal. Some tunes come together quickly, but many times ideas are put away.  Our newest tune, She's Mobile" was created from an idea we've had on file for close to 4 years.

If you guys were to cover another band's album, which would you pick and why? We've recently been debating this as a band.  It is hard to decide on a group. Paul Simon, Michael Jackson, Steely Dan and Alice in Chains are all artists that've been discussed.

What are five songs you guys are listening to right now?
Silly Love Songs- Paul McCartney
Willin' - Little Feat
Banana Pudding - Jeff Sipe Trio
Shining Star - Earth, Wind, & Fire
Call Off Your Dogs - Lake Street Dive

What has been the best part of 2016 as band? What was the low point?Expanding our touring radius has been a big accomplishment for the band this year.  We've played NYC twice this year. We've played several Official Widespread Panic and Umphrey's McGee After-parties and played some national festivals such as Aura and The Werk Out Fest. The low point for this year would be our bass player leaving the band. We found a replacement quickly and the transition has been great, sort of a shot of energy for the rest of the band.

What do you like more: Performing live or recording in the studio?
The energy that's created at a live show is hard to beat. The transfer between the crowd and band is something that can't be captured in a quiet studio. The studio has been a place for us to capture a great moment in time for the band. We enjoy giving our fans polished recordings for them to sing a long with, love, hate, dissect and critique.

Does the band have a pre-gig ritual?Usually we spend pre shows creating a setlist and trying to ad something unique for each show.  Recently there's been a lot of pre show microwavable mac and cheese cups going down.

What is the most-likely compliment from fans after a show?We love hearing from fans that have a great time at our shows. We're fortunate to play for smiling faces night in and night out and seeing your music bring joy to others is extremely rewarding.

What's one thing people should know about the band?
We will sleep on your couches and your floors.

Any upcoming projects? What can we expect from you in the near future? We are currently recording at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, TN. We plan to release 2 tracks before the end of the year.

What do you like the most about Radio Airplay? We've used Radio Airplay for over a year now.  It is a great tool for independent musicians to have their tracks heard and receive feedback at the individual track level.  The rewards program is excellent as well.  We look forward to seeing our Pop Score every week.
