Overall Impression: Canadian singer/songwriter Bob Stark's "Patterson Creek Bridge" is a bittersweet folk story-song about hope, longing, and the emotional strain of wartime separation. This intimate ballad in three-quarter time features delicately fingerpicked acoustic guitar beneath Stark's warm and weathered vocal, as gentle melodies float atop a weightless chord progression that feels like a quiet morning buzz. Strongest Point(s): Excellent production and a solid mix. Up close and personal sound. Gorgeous chord progression, love the major 7th in the melody. Nice guitar arrangement, solid patterns and the different chord voicings really help to fill out the sound. Great little bridge section, terrific harmonic variations as well as a strong lyric. Terrific vocal performance and production, good clarity and a great conversational intimacy to your delivery. Just an ideal folk vocal style that draws the listener in immediately. Lyrics here present a compelling and fascinating narrative, following the subject through seasonal and emotional transitions with great prose and description. The image of her silently dancing alone on the bridge is incredibly striking and evocative, and serves as the core anchor point for the entire song. You do an amazing job of setting a scene here, very cinematic storytelling. Exquisite writing and engaging musical composition on this one, should have very little trouble attracting an audience among folk and Americana enthusiasts. Outstanding work, once again!

With the lineup of Johnny Void (guitar/vox), Michael Blackford (bass), and Jason Burrows (drums), the band recorded this track in January 1996 at L N G Studios in Merrit Island, FL.
