SONG REVIEW π΅π Tongue TalXer - Miracles
Tongue TalXer - Miracles
Christian/Gospel
US
Overall Impression: Christian artist Tongue TalXer sings in the spirit, expressing his faith with a decidedly compelling rendition of Natalie Grant's "Miracles". This cover is done in a modern electronic rock style, with a driving backbeat and pulsating groove that separate it from most versions. What really sets this track apart is Tongue TalXer's unique glossolalic vocal style, using phonetic speech-like syllables in place of language to convey a deep, inhibited form of prayer and worship. His resonant baritone is the perfect vehicle for the mesmerizing rhythmic patterns and hypnotic vocalizations overtop the haunting chords and rock instrumentation. Tongue TalXer's novel interpretation of "Miracles" should appeal to most alternative CCM enthusiasts, as well as anyone interested in the fascinating vocal technique of glossolalia.
Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Very interesting take on this song; love the the shift from an emotional ballad to a more upbeat, modern electro-rock sound with some ambient elements. Strong groove, fantastic instrumentation that's topped off by the ethereal female vocal "oohs". Your vocal performance is simply captivating; the rhythmic timing and patterns are entrancing, while the weathered baritone timbre adds a terrific texture. This flows like rap, honestly. The vocal also sits well in the mix, front and center with good clarity. The thing that I find so interesting aside from the spiritual aspect is the ability of this style of vocals to bypass the brain entirely, affecting the listener on a visceral and emotional level. I feel like this track is a great entry point for listeners unfamiliar with glossolalic singing, and should appeal to established fans as well as anyone curious. Tremendous work on this one!
