SONG REVIEW 🎵📝 Koppatone - Fed Up
Koppatone - Fed Up
Pop
CA, US
Overall Impression: KoppaTone expresses his deep frustration towards the current state of the independent music business, with his release of "Fed Up". Leaning into his signature retro-modern style, the artist blends vintage synths and drum machines with a contemporary aesthetic that includes pitched vocals and other advanced production techniques, generating a unique sound that transcends eras and genres. KoppaTone's clever lyrics paint a seedy picture of "fake friends" and untrustworthy partners who only seek to take advantage of indie musicians, giving this track a slightly angry and defensive tone that's somewhat contradictory to its dance floor vibe. Contemporary r&b fans can find KoppaTone's "Fed Up" available now as a single, on all major streaming platforms.
Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Great blend of retro elements with modern production techniques. Nice synth and drum choices, killer dance groove. Fantastic contrasting feel to the pre-chorus sections, they do well to break things up a little bit. Awesome vocal performance and production, great job with the backing vox. Infectious melodies with a strong chorus hook. Lyrics are astute and sardonic, with an underlying anger that specifically calls out the music business for taking advantage of indie artists. Terrific use of wordplay and double meanings. Love the vocal hang at the very end. All in all, this is a tremendous contemporary r&b track that should appeal to listeners of all ages, thanks to a compelling retro-modern sound and angry, defiant songwriting. Wonderful work, from top to bottom!
