Brandon Bing - Haunted House
Country, Rock
Tennessee, U.S.
Overall Impression: Rapidly rising country star Brandon Bing invites listeners to visit the spook show, with his release of “Haunted House”. Creepy harpsichords and eerie violins mesh with overdriven guitars and hard-hitting drums on this hair-raising track that paints a vivid portrait of high anxiety and internal turmoil. Bing makes good use of the funhouse metaphor, expressing chaotic thoughts with allegorical lyrics delivered in his signature gruff baritone. Brandon Bing’s “Haunted House” is guaranteed to be a new Halloween favorite, particularly among intrepid alt country-rock fans.
Strongest Point(s): Awesome production, great sounding mix. Fantastic job of creating a horror atmosphere via instrumentation and melodic content. Wonderful intro and outro that frame the track. Love the harpsichord/trem guitar combo. Fiddle does amazing work throughout, great spooky fx. Drums sound terrific, definitely more alt rock than country. Outstanding vocal production and performance, killer top line delivery and the harmony stacks sound great. Brilliant lyrical content that has a frantic, almost disorienting tone, and really leans into the creepy carnival theme to articulate deep internal distress. This track is an obvious seasonal Halloween hit, but also highlights a raw and vulnerable psyche that’s suffering from extreme anxiety and mental exhaustion, uncomfortable and difficult to discuss themes that resonate year round. Excellent work on this track, by everyone involved!
