Rafael Montecruz - Someday (Reimagined)
Pop, Songwriter
California, U.S.

Overall Impression: Producer/songwriter Rafael Montecruz serves up a track that is both light and profoundly dreamlike on his release of "Someday (Reimagined) [feat. Abraham Armell]". This reworking of his 2024 single is a complete atmospheric transformation, trading the original's introspective, grounded folk elements for a chill electronic soundscape. Montecruz achieves this shift by substituting the earthy warmth of cello and acoustic guitar with shimmering, reverb-drenched synth pads that feel like a gentle wash of moonlight alongside funky electric dance riffs. He crafts a compelling electronic dance groove with a driving kick drum and crisp hi-hats, setting a pulse that feels calm and collected. The mood builds to dramatic drops that are less about explosive energy and more about a feeling of euphoric release, accompanying exciting melodic peaks and passionate lyrics. These moments are elevated by the expressive vocals of guest artist, Abraham Armell, whose performance feels both vulnerable and hopeful. The overall feeling is one of weightlessness and serene uplift, making it perfect for a late-night drive or a moment of blissful contemplation. Fans of chilled-out dance-pop and electropop will find themselves immersed in the ethereal sounds and cool, transportive beats of Rafael Montecruz's "Someday (Reimagined) [feat. Abraham Armell]".

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Fantastic atmosphere, and a restrained energy that runs throughout. Gorgeous intro, nice synth selections. Light and lively beat design, works well for this tune. Great guitar tone and technique, really drives the groove. Vocal performance and production really standout, outstanding work arranging and processing the backing vox in particular. Lyrics are well-suited for pop, and do a wonderful job of expressing a longing. All in all, this is a brilliant reimagining and remix that should appeal to a wide range of pop music enthusiasts, thanks to compelling beat design and a contemporary sheen that makes it easily accessible. Stellar work on this one!
