Jorge Rodrigues - Looking at the Tagus
Rock
Portugal
Overall Impression: Using text from the poem of the same name, Jorge Rodrigues has adapted the literary work of Fernando Pessoa into a killer new Rock tune titled Looking At The Tagus. This well-crafted release has a bright, guitar-heavy sound that fans of 70's Rock will surely enjoy. It takes listeners on an artistic journey examining the Tagus river in Lisbon, and does so with plenty of Blues-inspired solos and crunchy chords along the way. The chorus is extremely catchy and makes you pump your fists in rhythm with the groove. At every turn a new solo or guitar riff explodes with a surplus of overdrive. This creates such a strong sense of forward momentum, it is impossible to not be fully engaged. Rodrigues gives a solid vocal performance and maintains a high level of energy. All in all, Jorge Rodrigues has brought new life to Pessoa's poetry and made a fantastic new contribution to the world of Rock.
Strongest Point(s): There are plenty of strong points with this new tune. The poem itself contains a wealth of expression and thought-provoking phrases. When placed over a Rock sound, the edges come out and listeners can experience it in a completely new light without ruining the material. The music is also well written and solid all around. This has a familiar Rock sound that kicks a lot of ass.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Rock and Alternative Rock will enjoy Looking At The Tagus by Jorge Rodrigues.
Artist target suggestions: R.E.M., Green Day, Eagles, Led Zeppelin, Dire Straits, Weezer, Cream, Rush, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, Fleetwood Mac, Def Leppard, Pearl Jam, Deep Purple, The Byrds, Van Halen, Bryan Adams
