Carousel Blonde - Walls
Alternative, Indie
Maryland, U.S.
Overall Impression: "Walls" is an exciting new release from Maryland-based alt-rockers, Carousel Blonde. This mid-tempo track features a guitar-driven sound, reinforced by shimmering synths and strummed acoustics alongside a rock-solid backbeat in support of captivating melodies and compelling vocals. Introspective and moody verses give way to massive, anthemic choruses with poetic lyrics that detail a difficult breakup with dreamlike imagery and a heavy sense of drama and heartbreak. Slick modern production and a robust radio-friendly sound make Carousel Blonde's "Walls" an easy recommendation for contemporary rock audiences, and it can be found now available as a single on all major music platforms.
Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, great sounding mix. Incredible clarity and tonal balance, sounds amazing at high volume. Wonderful intro, sets the tone nicely. Explosive energy, should easily engage listeners. Terrific blend of guitar and synth tones, the acoustic lends a nice subtle organic element underneath the roar. Drums sound fantastic, great mix. Nice contrast between verse, pre-chorus and choruses. Awesome vocal performance and production; the lead nails it, and the harmonies really make the top line come to life by opening things up a bit. Lyrics are slightly brooding, with excellent imagery and use of allegory. Should resonate strongly with younger alternative rock audiences. Solid flow and rhyme scheme as well. Overall, this is a tremendous track that draws from a deep pool of contemporary alternative rock styles in order to create something that should have broad and lasting appeal. Very well-executed and well-produced, this tune is radio-ready and should have no problem attracting listeners. Stellar work, all around!
