Overall Impression: Contemporary gospel artist Bonita Mitchell expresses her faith and devotion, exploring themes of salvation and divine guidance on her release of "Let This Mind Be In Me". This uptempo track features a spirited r&b arrangement, highlighted by percussive bass, clavinet, and funky rhythm guitar set to a vibrant groove. Piano, organ, and strings round out the sound, lending ample support for Mitchell's passionate vocal performance while group backing singers provide resolute reinforcement through both harmony and call-and-response passages that echo core phrases. Bonita Mitchell's "Let This Mind Be In Me" is available now as a single on all major streaming services, and should appeal to nearly all gospel audiences.
Strongest Point(s): Solid production and mix. Nice intro, sets the tune up nicely. Great energy and vibe. Solid structure, great bridge. Fantastic groove, the bass, rhythm guitar and drums/percussion are all working well together here. Nice brass hits and thin, airy strings. Love the breakdowns at 1:13 and 2:43, they provide excellent dynamic variation and the crowd noise helps to give it a "live" feel, encouraging listener engagement. Awesome vocal performance, huge pipes with amazing power throughout an extended range. Good clarity and outstanding ad-libs as well. The backing vox add a ton of depth and character, serving in a variety of roles, from harmonic support to polytextual rhythmic layers. Lyrics and themes are very reverential and spiritual, should have no problem connecting with contemporary gospel audiences. Nice use of repetition as well. All in all, this is a tremendous track that captures the energy and spirit of a live performance, and carries a powerful message along with it. Stellar work here, by all involved!
