Amaka Ozobia - Wings of Courage
Piano, Instrumental
United States
Overall Impression: Wings of Courage is an uplifting new piece for solo keyboard by Amaka Ozobia. A gentle and quick listen, Wings of Courage features rolling arpeggios in an approachable and familiar tonal landscape. Its melody peaks out above the left hand figures, and evokes a feeling of discovery. True to its name, this piece conjures images of flight, persistence, and brave determination. Confidence seems to build as the piece progresses, before it erupts into a flurry of notes and lands gently in a new place. Although there is a sense of adventure to the piece, Wings of Courage ultimately stays close to the material that is presented in the first few bars. This, coupled with its short running time, makes for an easily enjoyable and approachable listen for those who like contemporary instrumental music.
Strongest Point(s): The tone of keyboard is quite attractive. This piece would work well on a variety of instruments, particularly on a mallet percussion instrument like the vibraphone. The shimmering quality of these instruments would work well with piece's overall character and could bring a new sense of life.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Easy Listening, Instrumental, Ambient, and the approachable side of Contemporary Classical music will enjoy Wings of Courage by Amaka Ozobia.
Artist target suggestions: Brian Eno, Nils Fram, Danny Elfman, Ludovico Einaudi, Phillip Glass, Lorenz Dangel, Thomas Newman, Hans Zimmer, John Adams, Claude Debussy, Maurice Ravel, George Winston, April Baxter
