Neil LoRe - A Most Wondrous Day
Rock
Massachusetts, U.S.

Overall Impression: Massachusetts-based artist Neil LoRe serves up well-crafted, masterfully composed art rock, on his release of "A Most Wondrous Day." This uptempo track opens with an elegant classical guitar figure that's soon joined by electric guitars, organ, and a robust rhythm section in full support of LoRe's meticulously stacked vocal harmonies. Epic lyrics revolve around such provocative concepts as destiny, the afterlife, and even climate change, as well as examining contrasting themes of good and evil. Marked by dynamic verses, intoxicating bridges and dramatic instrumental interludes, Neil LoRe's "A Most Wondrous Day" should especially appeal to neo-prog and art rock enthusiasts. It's now available streaming, and can be found on LoRe's 2024 full-length album titled Super Cloud.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Gorgeous intro, guitar sounds fantastic and establishes the harmonic and rhythmic structure of the piece. Nice instrumentation and variety of guitar tones. Wonderful variations throughout the arrangement, nice contrast between the different sections. I really enjoyed the bridge coming out of the guitar solo, the odd time signatures and string synths add a trippy, heady quality. Awesome vocal performance and production; a delivery and style reminiscent of prime Ian Anderson, and a terrific job of laying down harmonies to give it a rich and full sound. Brilliant lyrical content; heavy metaphysical themes and thoughts on death and dying, expressed in a concise poetic fashion that rock audiences will love. All in all, this is a magnificent composition and a tremendous track that recalls the prog influences that were infiltrating pop and rock music in the seventies. Stellar work, from top to bottom!
