Jake's Jacket - 2060 or So - Tune of the Death Row
Rock, Alternative Rock
Norway

Overall Impression: Creatively fusing thought-provoking philosophical musings with inspired genre-blending, Jake's Jacket' musically adventurous and thematically intriguing "2060 or so - Tune of the death row" invites listeners on a sonically absorbing and creatively bold piece of songwriting that excitingly weaves a number of diverse elements together from a broad range of distinct genres such as jazz fusion, prog rock, and alternative music styles to dazzling effect, resulting in a melody-rich, groove-heavy track that is a delight to get lost in.

Strongest Point(s): The performances are very strong indeed. Full of character and boasting a high level of musicianship, each performance brings something distinctly unique to the table, allowing each and every melody and groove to be imbued with a strong sense of personality that goes a long way in helping to heighten the effectiveness of the writing tenfold. As aforementioned, the fusing of genres is excellent and allows for some particularly intriguing musical and thematic avenues to be explored. Whilst the expansive nature of the subtle synth textures and ambient guitar work help evoke a certain prog-like aesthetic, the fusion-esque percussive elements and smooth jazz-inspired sax lines help to inject a certain air of refinement to proceedings - factor in the world music-inspired ethnic drum interlude from 5:15 and the effective use of spoken word-based lyrics throughout and you as a listener are never short of creative contrast and variety.

Target Audience Appeal: This is an interesting blend of alternative rock, jazz fusion, and progressive rock styles and I can certainly see fans of these genres finding it to be an intriguing listening experience.

Artist target suggestions: Lou Reed, Tom Waits, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, King Crimson, Rush, Pink Floyd, Steeley Dan, The Alan Parsons Project, Steven Wilson
