Symphony Triteleia Laxa - Dancin' Round This Bonfire
Rock, Alternative
Pennsylvania, U.S.

Overall Impression: Symphony Triteleia Laxa serve up primal, hard-hitting alternative metal on their release of "Dancin' Round this Bonfire." Recorded over the course of several years by multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Mark Dean, this track is a true labor of love that blends monster guitar riffs and mesmerizing tribal rhythms with the ingenuity and calculations of prog rock. A psychedelic middle section incorporates real audio of Dean's friends and family that plays overtop a heavy tom groove and chugging bass riff, setting up an angular, off-kilter guitar solo before heading into the final refrain. Rock enthusiasts of all sorts, particularly fans of prog-metal, will revel in the potent sound and unbridled spirit of "Dancing' Round this Bonfire" from Symphony Triteleia Laxa.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, outstanding mix. Nice intro, does a good job setting the stage. Fantastic main riff and groove, love the 7-beat mixed meter. Drums hit hard and sound incredible. Great bass tone. Nice instrumentation and variety of guitar tones. Great use of foley and real audio, the voices and whispers add an interesting texture as well as atmosphere. The middle section offers a wonderful diversion, breaks things up nicely. Great little background vocal hook through there that ties it all together melodically. Guitar solo sounds awesome coming out of it. Terrific vocal performance, great rock style and delivery. Lyrics are heady and cohesive, sticking to the primal feel and bonfire theme. All in all this is an incredibly impressive endeavor, especially considering the time and effort spent. Its a great sounding track that certainly captures and conveys a holistic sense of community and a shared collective consciousness. Stellar work, from top to bottom!
