Elizabeth Cuite - Woman in the Window
Pop, Folk
New York, U.S.

Overall Impression: Talented singer/songwriter Elizabeth Cuite explores themes of frustration and discontent rooted in unfulfilled promise, with her release of "Woman in the Window." This hauntingly beautiful track unfolds into a guitar-driven indie folk sound, featuring lightly-chugging acoustic rhythms and atmospheric, dreamy electric leads. Bass and sparse percussion round out the arrangement in support of Cuite's gripping and powerful vocal performance, as she delivers compelling, poetic narrative set to an extremely alluring melody that listeners will love. Adult alternative and indie folk fans in particular will appreciate the meticulous song craft and pure vocal prowess of Elizabeth Cuite, and absolutely need to check out "Woman in the Window."

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Nice intro, it gently sets the tone along with a nice bit of tape warmth. Brilliant beat construction, great rhythm arrangement, love the guitar layers. Nice tone and verb on the leads, they all do a great job of expanding the scope and ceiling of the song, especially some of those slides. Great pop chord progression, allows for engaging melodic content. Incredible vocal performance; outstanding control and natural expression, nice subtle dynamics and lovely phrasing. Brilliant lyrics; tremendous prose, and an extremely compelling narrative and theme that will resonate with a wide audience. The "angry eyes, stormy skies, violet tides" bit just made my jaw drop. Overall, I think this is a tremendous example of contemporary songwriting, and a fine finished track that should definitely be able to garner some attention, and win over audiences from several genres.
