Overall Impression: Cold Lake delivers inspirational country-rock from their home nation of Sweden, on their release of "Brothers." A project of producer/songwriter Ronny Svanströmer, this track blends the enormity and dynamics of arena rock with modern country sensibilities to create an inclusive and elevated sound that audiences will love. Lead singer Mathias Tell gives a strong performance, his rugged baritone reinforced by exquisite group backing vocals and supported by a stalwart rock rhythm section, featuring scorching guitar leads. Svanströmer's English lyrics explore themes of extreme unity and the inevitable passage of time, highlighted by an incredibly compelling and anthemic chorus hook that serves as the heart and soul of this tune. Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, outstanding mix. Fantastic song structure that serves the chorus well, putting it in the spotlight with the verse and pre-chorus functioning as support. Great dynamics throughout. Nice synth intro, builds anticipation and sets up the heavy vibrato guitar part. Guitar leads sound amazing, great tone and technique. Drums are nice and big, while sitting in the back of the mix and allowing the vocals and guitars to ride up front. Awesome vocal performance and production; the lead has a great modern country style, and the backing vox are simply amazing. They really bring that chorus to life, and certainly help with audience engagement. Brilliant lyrical content; compassionate and sincere with strong imagery, and really hitting on that "brotherhood" concept which is super hot in country music at the moment. Overall, this is a terrific bit of song craft, and a tremendous track that totally nails the contemporary country sound by applying rock instrumentation and production style, as well as leaning on popular country thematic material. Stellar work on this one, by everyone involved!
