GoneGears - Stranger
Alternative, Rock
California, U.S.

Overall Impression: The California-based Rock band Gone Gears has released their new song Perfect Stranger. Pulling influence from the late 70's and early 80's, Perfect Stranger has a killer sound that fits well in the worlds of Punk and Alternative Rock. The heavy groove moves with an attitude that is not to be messed with. It provides a defining edge that perfectly matches the lyrical content. Slightly mysterious, the lyrics are cast in a smoky haze as they describe a woman looking for a particular kind of love. She is on the move, and does not want to stick around. The gravely vocal delivery is all-too effective and keeps the subtle melodies in check so the lyrics can do the heavy lifting. Overall, Perfect Stranger by Gone Gears is a solid new tune that has more than enough character and memorable riffs to warrant multiple listens.

Strongest Point(s): The groove and chord progression in Perfect Stranger has a familiarity that instantly sparks a physical reaction from the listener. It saunters along, as it if were moseying its way down a dark alley. It makes you want to move along, but not so much to draw attention to yourself. This is the sort of tune that uses its music to stand out, just as much as its lyrics.

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Alternative Rock and Punk will dig Perfect Stranger by GoneGears.

Artist target suggestions: New York Dolls, Wolfmother, Danzig, Tom Waits, Sex Pistols, Social Distortion, Iggy Pop, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Dead Kennedys, Buzzcocks, Ramones, The Stooges, Cage The Elephant
