LeBaron - Devotion
Christian/Gospel, R&B/Soul
Pennsylvania, United States
Overall Impression: LeBaron takes a smooth and soulful approach in his cover of Devotion by Earth Wind & Fire. While the original needs no improvement, this version of Devotion is one that allows the listener to completely melt away and chill out. LeBaron has essentially repainted the tune, but with warmer hues and fewer edges. The band has given way to modern methods of production, resulting in an incredibly tight groove and foundation. He takes the vocals and puts them on an expansive pedestal. The harmonies are attractive and each note seems to dig deeply. This track flows together extremely well and exhibits a unique sound. Overall, this new cover of Devotion from LeBaron floats by effortlessly and keeps the listener entertained and mellow from beginning to end.
Strongest Point(s): This version of Devotion is so smooth. The vocals sit very well in the mix, and show the versatility of the original material. The tune fits comfortably in the lower vocal range, and has taken a new life with LeBaron's approach.
Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Soul and Earth Wind & Fire are sure to enjoy Lebaron's cover of Devotion.
Artist target suggestions: Earth Wind & Fire, Dixon, Paulette Ivory, Dave Shirley, Moonlight Rhythm Society, Erykah Badu, Fred Hammond, Luther Vandross, The Isley Brothers, Chaka Kan, Jacob Flores
