the displayers - Don't
Alternative/Alt. Rock, Pop, Folk
Boston, United States

Overall Impression: Boston area rock band the displayers take a hard-edged look at the ups and downs of breaking up on this song, simply titled "don't." Led by longtime frontman Damian Israel Shiner, the displayers are in fine form on this uptempo track. Chugging bass, flashy guitars and dynamic drumming form the backdrop upon which Shiner delivers his electric vocal performance, feeding off the raw, visceral energy of the band. The displayers' "don't" will certainly resonate with rock audiences across the board, thanks to its hair-raising intensity and the stellar musicianship at play here.

Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. Great energy and atmosphere on this one, pure rock spirit right off the top. Terrific song structure, good variation between sections. Great staccato riff that forms the backbone of the verse. Drums sound great, very propulsive and energetic playing. Outstanding guitar tones and arrangement, brilliant playing. Vocals sound amazing, nice power and range; love the filter effect you used for variation. Lyrics are relatable and compelling, abstract but not opaque; should have no problem connecting with listeners. Overall, it's a fantastic song and a remarkably animated track that really jumps out of the speakers. Tremendous work here, by all involved!

Target Audience Appeal: Fans of Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, Post-Grunge, Post-Punk

Artist target suggestions: The Strokes, Television, Pixies, Interpol, Spoon, Arcade Fire, Franz Ferdinand, ...And You Will Know Us by the Trail of Dead, The Afghan Whigs
