Brennan Salisbury - Boy
Folk, Indie, Acoustic
Perth, Australia

Overall Impression: Brennan Salisbury is an artist that finds his music and creativity through teaching, he explores his craft through storytelling and wants to use his music to connect, teach and inspire others through it. Music is both his tool and his craft for his expression and the gift he gives to the world. His latest release is the single “Boy”. A mix of acoustic folk with an emo edge, this track is beautifully done and was designed to be listened to like a private performance. The song explores whether mainstream education suits all children from pre-primary age and is sung and explored through a teacher’s perspective. A teacher by trade, Salisbury’s musical and vocal chops are not too shabby.

Strongest Point(s): The combination of Salisbury’s vocals, the melody, and the instrumental performance makes for a full-bodied and well-constructed piece. A piece that is both musically pleasing and technically sound. Salisbury’s vocals are unassuming, and a bit timid and whispery. They give that air of mystery while also making them sound dreamy and ethereal, this is especially true when combined with the vocals of his female counterpart. The vocals are softly whispered in your ear, it is a flowing track, layered under peaceful vocalization and technical instrumentation. Honest, and unapologetic track, it’s a song with a rawness and innocence that showcases its realness, stripped down and raw. The song displays the contrast and beauty of both their voices and flawless harmonization. There is cohesiveness and depth in their voices. The beautifully soft, flowing melody is like a soothing lullaby immersing you in its sound and for a minute you want to just stop, forget where you are, and just be. The staccato, finger-picked notes on the guitar add an interesting element to the tune making it a soulful indie folk tune.

Target Audience Appeal: For fans of folk, soft pop, acoustic, inspirational, and worship music. Fans of Joshua Radin, Keane, David Gray, and X Ambassadors will also enjoy what Salisbury has to offer.
