Agené Rogers - Promise
Christian/Gospel
Virgin Islands, United States
Overall Impression: Passionately performed and lovingly written, Agené Rogers's captivating Gospel track "Promise" is sure to reach many a listener's hearts with its deeply soulful tones and tranquil melodic sensibilities. Opening with a tender unison melody shared by both the piano and guitar, it quickly becomes evident that "Promise" will be a listening experience of a particularly uplifting and relaxed nature, and by the time the soothing vocals enter, it also becomes apparent that "Promise" is a track that is built upon both a profound sense of meaning and purpose. Combining wonderfully calming vocal harmonies, delicate percussive elements, gracious performances, and melodically vibrant piano and guitar lines, "Promise" is a worthwhile musical experience that places its listeners in a welcome state of serenity and hope.
Strongest Point(s): Agené is clearly a gifted performer and you really do feel his heart in each and every delicately word he conveys, and as with any Gospel-inspired piece of songwriting, this is paramount in helping to ensure listeners form a strong bond with the track and perhaps even more importantly, the message that it holds at its center. I particularly like the interplay between the lead and backing vocals, it helps to both create some great momentum to the lyrics and highlight key moments in the lyrics themselves, strengthening their effectiveness as well as creating some thoroughly warm textural layering.
Target Audience Appeal: This is definitely a track for gospel-inspired R&B lovers and I can see it strongly appealing to fans of these particular styles.
Artist target suggestions: David Crowder Band, Amy Grant, Marvin Sapp, MercyMe, Michelle Willaims, Chris Tomlin, The Staple Singers, Byron Cage, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond, Smokie Norful, James Fortune, John P. Kee
