SOUPE - Dead Ghost People
Rock, All Inclusive
Massachusetts, United States/span>
Overall Impression: With its compelling and undeniably haunting lyrical subject matter combined with a strong sense of atmosphere, SOUPE's melancholic alternative rocker "Dead Ghost People" proves itself to be an eerily absorbing listening experience with its interesting sound design elements and compelling melodic qualities. SOUPE treats listeners to a surprisingly catchy and inspired piece of songwriting that boasts solid performances and many a strong hook, resulting in a well-rounded, well-performed, and engrossing experience that is highly replayable.
Strongest Point(s): FX are used to great effect throughout "Dead Ghost People", and whilst there are perhaps a few instances that could be slightly refined/tweaked, the sound design implementation really helps further add to the overall atmosphere of the track as well as help to expand on the textural and timbral qualities of the song brilliantly, and whether it'd be the ambiance inducing reverse shimmer effects or the expansive nature of the well utilized reverbs, these elements certainly help elevate the song's effectiveness tenfold. The way the lyrics have been written certainly helps to evoke some rather striking imagery, and the understated nature of the vocals fit this style of lyric writing greatly, helping to create an interesting contrast between the gentler vocal presence that flows through the song and the spookier themes that the lyrics explore.
Target Audience Appeal: I can definitely see "Dead Ghost People" strongly appealing to both classic and alternative rock fans.
Artist target suggestions: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Steven Wilson, Chris Cornell, The Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, The Alan Parsons Project, The Pineapple Thief, Nosound, R.E.M., Soundgarden, Candlebox
