Overall Impression: "Guessing Game" is a refreshingly honest new release from promising young singer/songwriter Izzy Burns. Displaying a depth and maturity well beyond her nineteen years, Burns delivers a stunning performance here, her crystalline vocal backed by delicate fingerstyle acoustic guitar, piano and light percussion on this intimate folk-pop track. Izzy Burns' "Guessing Game" is a playful take on the uncertain nature of new love, brilliantly written and produced, and should have little to no trouble finding its audience among folk and pop fans. Strongest Point(s): Outstanding production, excellent mix. Great tonal balance. Thoughtful arrangement with a nice buildup, gradually adding subtle elements that perfectly compliment one another, all in the service of the song. Guitar sounds fantastic, and the piano and backing vox add lovely color. Bass and shakers sit well in the mix, and help to round out the sound. Love the dropout around the three minute mark, breaks things up nicely and sets up the final refrain. Stellar lyrical content, simultaneously vulnerable yet confident, written with a wonderful sense of prose and meter. Really liked how you stuck with the theme of supposition throughout the piece, tremendous bit of songwriting. All in all, it's a terrific song and a tremendous finished track that should resonate with a wide audience. Exceptional work, all around!
