Overall Impression: With its beautifully written lyrics and captivating performances, "Liriope" is a compellingly written folk piece that manages to arouse a myriad of emotions in its listeners. It's always something special to hear what inspired an artist's particular piece of songwriting, and Pontus Nilsson's lyrical inspiration behind "Liriope" is nothing short of fascinating, you could perhaps say that the story of Liriope is a poignant allegory for love and loss and the sometimes cruel sense of irony that we sometimes find ourselves presented with. These strong lyrical themes are further reinforced by some wonderfully delicate performances that manage to perfectly capture the tender yet melancholic nature of the lyrics both effectively and profoundly, resulting in a track that feels wholeheartedly genuine and earnest in character.
