Dave Evans Solo - Extra Extra
Rock, Light Rock, Singer/Songwriter
New Jersey, United States
Overall Impression: New Jersey based singer/songwriter Dave Evans Solo offers up a rocking social commentary on the state of humanity with his release of "Extra Extra." A brisk rock groove chugs along, fueled by electric guitar and organ that creates the ideal backdrop for Evans' distinctively weathered vocal as he plainly illustrates several of the many plights of modern society, ranging from the senseless wars to the increasingly unstable weather patterns. Highlighted by some fine guitar work and sharp lyrical content, "Extra Extra" from Dave Evans Solo should resonate strongly with rock audiences, as well as any listeners who are passionate about improving the world in which we all share.
Strongest Point(s): Excellent production, solid mix. This song feels like it could've literally been written this morning; it's so topical and right on the nose, it gave this listener chills. Strong Neil Young vibes here. Great energy, the aggressive nature and tone of the track matches the frustration and disgust conveyed in the lyrics. It's really a broad spectrum protest song, love how you covered so much ground here. Great rock arrangement and instrumentation. Nice guitar tone and blues rock stylings on the lead, and the organ sounds terrific, adding another layer of muscle. Vocal performance is outstanding, you sound like someone who really knows his voice and is comfortable and confident in his vocal ability and range. It has a very interesting timbre that should help distinguish you as a singer. I really liked the repetition of the weatherman line you use at the end, really drives it home. Overall, it's a phenomenal song and a strong track that certainly achieves what it sets out to accomplish. Effecting change is one of our most important duties as artists, and hopefully this reaches enough ears to inspire people and open some minds. Terrific work on this one, all around!
